ACT AGAINST CHILD ABUSE, BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!

As we Nirengi Association, since the day we were founded, we have been organizing training programs titled Act Against Child Abuse, Before It’s too Late! and Positive Youth Development across Turkey with the aim of acting against child abuse. We have been providing these training programs to school administrators, teachers, parents, and support staff in different school stages (Primary School, Secondary School, and High School) and different school types (Anatolian High School, Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Anatolian Imam Hatip High School).

As of the end of 2021, we have provided our Act Against Child Abuse, Before It’s Too Late! and Positive Youth Development training programs to over 15,000 school administrators and teachers through face-to-face training in small groups of 30 each.

Even though we had to take a break from our face-to-face training organizations because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are in an effort to continue to provide online training programs as much as our association’s capacity allows.

In our Act Against Child Abuse, Before It’s Too Late! training programs, within the scope of child abuse and neglect titles, alongside the definitions and signs we focus on protective-preventive activities, monitoring-evaluating activities, intervention activities, Child Protection Law, and School-Based Standard Operation Procedure*.

In our Positive Youth Development training programs, we cover the titles of child abuse, peer bullying, intimate partner violence and specific to these 3 titles, protective-preventive activities, monitoring-evaluating activities, intervention activities, Child Protection Law.

In addition, in our training programs, we include Activity Guidebook for Teachers/Social Workers Providing Positive Development Training that will accompany the training modules we have developed for both training programs. This guidebook includes informative activities that support teachers to relay information practically to students in a classroom environment or online.

!School-Based Standart Operation Procedure: School-Based Standard Operation Procedure is a guide document that includes what to do when faced with a child who is a victim of abuse or violence at school. School-Based Standard Operation Procedure has taken its present form with opinions and contributions of representatives of the relevant institutions (Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ministry of National Education Ministry of Interior, Bar Associations, etc. ) whom we came together in Istanbul, Ankara, and Mersin in a series of stakeholder studies we organized as the Nirengi Association team. It has been implemented in Mersin since 2016 and in Istanbul since 2018.
